The Idea Pocket

The place to go for tips on increasing your creativity

Monday Exercise: Take a Hike (Literally)

Posted by Jen on February 4, 2008

Sometimes to clear the cobwebs from our brains and get the blood flowing like it’s supposed to so we can tap into our creativity, we have to get moving physically.

Take a hike.  Come on, put those tennis shoes or hiking boots on and get going!  It doesn’t have to be for long.

While you’re out, if you find any interesting rocks, twigs, etc., pick them up to put in your idea pocket later.

That’s not the main point of this, though.  While you’re walking, be observant but don’t put too much focus on any one thing.  Take it all in.

At the end of your hike, what stands out to you the most?  Write it, draw it, paint it, dance it…Whatever it.
