There are times I’ve been accused of thinking too much. I used to think there was no such thing. Now, though, I think perhaps there is.
If I overthink a project, it doesn’t go smoothly. If I follow my instincts and basically go with the flow, it goes a lot better.
If I think too much, I wonder why I think I can do any of the things I do. Thinking allows doubt to creep in. Doubt makes me question everything, even in my day job.
That’s not to say I don’t still think a lot, but I’ve discovered that sometimes thinking does interfere with creativity.
Do you think too much? Do you overthink? How do you combat the self-doubt when/if you do?

I’ve been needing to refill my well for a couple days. That’s directly related to today’s tip.
Wander.
Wander with purpose. Wander without purpose.
Just wander.
Whether you intend to or not, you’ll be refilling your well; you’ll be taking inspiration in with every step, every breath, you take.
You can “wander” by daydreaming or by looking at picture sites online, but it’s best if you can actually get outside and truly, physically wander.

You’ve heard or seen those commercials on the radio, TV, or magazines/newspapers that…well…you just wish you hadn’t heard.
Re-create, either in writing, sketching/layout, audio, video, etc., the commercial.

I’ll get back on schedule here soon, I promise.
In the meantime, if any of you are interested in writing, there’s a guest blogger over at Creatif today.
Theresa Chaze, author of From Blank Page to Book Shelves, is a guest blogger on Creatif today. She’s talking about character sketches and how writers/readers connect with the characters.
