Saturday Source: Music

I’m not going to make any specific recommendation for a type or music or for any particular musician.  This source is music in general.

Music, if done well, makes us want to do.  Sing, dance, write, whatever.

Last night, the radio station I had on played a lot of songs from the late 1980s/early 1990s.  A current novel-in-progress has a lot of those mentioned or implied.  I worked on that a lot last night while listening to the radio.

Don’t underestimate music as a creativity source.

Saturday Source: Creative Slush

Sorry this is so late.  I had to work again today.  I don’t mind working, it’s the getting up early (5:30) that’s the problem.  I’m not a morning person.  *s*

Creative Slush

Check out the NitWits comic on the main page.  There are various exercises and information about workshops scattered throughout the site.

Saturday Source: SoulCollage

Soul Collage Playground

Admittedly, it has been a while since I’ve been to Soul Collage, but I find the concepts there intriguing.  How can you express yourself by making cards?  There are tips on making the cards, using the cards, an art gallery, community, and much more.

Saturday Source: A Writer’s Paris

I apologize for the lateness of this post. I ended up having to work in a different town today and had no computer or Internet until now.

Today’s source is a book, A Writer’s Paris by creativity coach Eric Maisel.

The book is made up of various sections that I wouldn’t quite call chapters. They’re more like essays. My favorite has to do with the one called “Apricots” where he and another woman were buying apricots at a Parisian market. They were being choosy at first, but the man selling the apricots said at that price, they had to use the scoop and get whatever they got and — basically — make the best of their lot.

To me, that correlates quite well with the idea-generating process. I’m not sure that’s what he had in mind with that essay, but that’s one of the things I took away from it.

Saturday Source: Coach Creative Space

Creativity coach Dan Goodwin has a community called Coach Creative Space.

You can modify the page you see when you log in according to a selection of templates available.  There is a forum area with a variety of discussions and a group area for specific (or not-so-specific, as the case may be) focus areas.

(I really need to get back over there….)

Saturday’s Sources

Every Saturday, I will try to post a website, blog, or book.  I will not be posting anything that I have not been to or read myself.

Our first Saturday Source is Creativity Portal.  It’s an extensive site for creative people of all types.  You’ll find articles and exercises to help ignite that creative spark (and hopefully keep it lit).

As a side note, it’s the main site that gave me the inspiration for the Idea Pocket.
